Projects

TroFCCA is a four year project of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the Tropical Agriculture Center for Research and Higher Education (CATIE) to contribute to the understanding of adaptation to climate change within tropical forest ecosystems.

Through the development of specific methods to assess vulnerability, the project will contribute to mainstreaming adaptation to climate change in development projects. The project is complementing activities already taking place in the countries in which it will be implemented, and for this reason, working relationships with national governments were established before commencing activities.

As the impacts of climate change will not be the same for all areas of the planet, TroFCCA will work in three regions and seven countries. While following the same approach and methods, each region will concentrate on those aspects of climate change that are a priority according to its development policy, environmental conditions and predicted climate changes. These aspects will be defined through consultations with the government and will be further refined in initial kick-off meetings for each region.
