About LPF

The Levelling the Playing Field (LPF) Project helps managing the disputes and consensuses that characterize the long-term management of renewable resources by multiple stakeholders. The conflicts that arise out of the management of renewable resources, often involving “commons” or lands with unrestricted access, are some of the key causes of unsustainable forest management in the tropics.

The project aims to test and improve an environmental mediation approach which attempts to resolve these disputes regarding the management of tropical forests and renewable resources. Through this mediation process, the project helps stakeholders to develop agreements that improve forest and associated land management and enhance people’s livelihoods.

These aims in turn have generated research questions which are detailed in the action research section.
