Analysis of social structural opportunities and constraint to livelihoods improvements of poor and marginal groups from forests in Nepal
To evaluate the effectiveness of different income-generation interventions for the poor in forest areas.
To identify leverage points for poor people to increase their influence over income and asset opportunities though more effective local organization and coalition building.
To identify policy reforms that support more effective income-generation strategies and local organization and coalition-building for the poor.
To increase the capacity of participating partners and others to improve the implementation of strategies that link pro-poor organizational strengthening and coalition building with income-generation.
Improving benefits to forest poor : learning from best practices of community-based forest enterprise institutions in Nepal
Review the existing types/modalities of community based forest enterprise institutions (cooperative, private or company or NGOs) in current CF and LF management regimes.
Document representative cases focusing on several factors and dynamics of operation and growth of these institutions.
Analyze the key factors that affect the success or failure of selected community based forest enterprises.
Suggest strategies for application of these experiences to improve the positive livelihoods impacts of LF.
