Expected Outcomes

• Review of experiences of Community Forestry and Leasehold Forestry in addressing livelihoods improvement of forest poor
• A review report containing detailed description of various experience of Community and Leasehold Forestry programs in addressing livelihoods improvement of poor from forests in Nepal as elaborated in the ToR.
• A summary report containing key recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of various interventions under the Leasehold and Community Forestry programs for improving income-generation and empowerment of the forest-dependent poor.
• A manuscript, based on the review, to be submitted for publication in a refereed journal, in consultation with Principal Scientist and Project Coordinator.
• A policy brief focusing on key lessons and specific recommendations from both the Community and Leasehold Forestry programs for government and donor agencies suggesting reforms that can support more effective income-generation strategies to increase benefits to poor.
• Compilation of LF literatures and submission of an annotated bibliography.
• Analysis of social structural opportunities and constraint to livelihoods improvements of poor and marginal groups from forests in Nepal
• Final technical and financial report. The technical report should provide a satisfactory overview of various project activities, accomplishments and key lessons.
• Manuscript for journal submission providing an analysis of social/institutional/organizational opportunities and constraints to forest-based livelihoods improvement in Nepal.
• Policy brief providing a strong background and rationale and clear and practical recommendations for policy and project-level interventions to improve forest-based livelihoods opportunities.
• Consultation workshop report.
• Concept note for further research.
• Improving benefits to forest poor : learning from best practices of community-based forest enterprise institutions in Nepal
• Final technical and financial report. The technical report should provide a satisfactory overview of various project activities, accomplishments and key lessons.
• Manuscript for journal submission providing a comprehensive analysis of lessons from various community based forest enterprises in enabling poor to benefit from forests in Nepal.
• Stakeholder's consultation workshop report.
• Policy brief providing a strong background and rationale and clear and practical recommendations for policy and project-level interventions to strengthen community based forest enterprises in Nepal Consultation workshop report.
• People, forest and policies : impacts of various forestry programs on livelihoods of poor (book)
• Final version of manuscript of the book to be submitted to publishers.
