Project management structure
The overall management structure is summarised in the organigram of the
project
A Steering Committee (SC) composed of 6 members, representatives of donor and
project partners, oversees the project implementation and is assisted for
scientific matters by a Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) composed of a pool of
about 20 international scientists. The SAG functions in an advisory capacity and
is responsible for ensuring scientific rigour, and advice on training needs.
The overall project coordination is undertaken at the interregional level by
an ad hoc Project Coordination Agency (PCA). The role of the PCA is to provide
general administrative and financial oversight of project implementation,
backstopping to the local partners, ensure scientific coherence and pertinence
of project activities, and consolidate annual progress reports to the donors.
For each region (Guianas, Central Africa and Pacific, one Regional Focal Point
Organisation (RFPO) acts as the main implementing partner for the project.
