Congo Basin Forests and Climate Change Adaptation (CoFCCA)

The Congo Basin Forests Climate Change Adaptation (CoFCCA) program is a three-year research project, carried out in Cameroon, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Climate change is expected to have a big impact on Africa's rural poor, who rely heavily on natural resources. With no immediate halt to global warming in sight, adaptation to altered circumstances seems to be the only immediate solution. But poverty, weak institutional capacity and inadequate policies hamper African farmers' ability to respond effectively to increased climate variability.

Since a majority of the people in Central Africa depends on forest resources for their survival, forests deserve to be a major player and entry point for adaptation.
