Learning To Be Responsible: Addressing Social, Economics, And Environmental Issues For Social Responsibility Of Forest-Based Business
Project Rationale
This program is intending to examine how social responsibility programs of businesses in the forest sector can contribute to sustainable forest management and better livelihoods for forest dependent people. The project will also promote synergy between CIFOR’s Governance Program and Livelihood program through joint work on topics of mutual interest. Social and environmental justice for local stakeholders is at the core of the mandate of the Governance Program. The Livelihoods Program has taken this one step further in promoting social responsibility at the interface of researchers and local communities, and will focus on testing innovative methodologies for sharing complex but relevant scientific findings with communities.
