Where we work

CIFOR scientists conduct high-quality research across Asia, Latin America and Africa to contribute to the well-being of people who depend on forests, reduce poverty and ensure the survival of the world's tropical forests.

Our approach is one of collaboration and innovation. We ensure projects are tailored to the specific needs and cultures of the local communities, and that practitioners and decision makers can translate our research into action.

CIFOR conducts research in more than 30 countries and focuses on six research domains, as defined in CIFOR's Strategy, 2008-2018.

Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR)
CIFOR advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. CIFOR is one of 15 centres within the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
