POLEX was established in July 1997 by the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) to keep key opinion leaders, policy makers and researchers informed about recent policy-relevant research results from CIFOR and others. Although CIFOR manages the list, the content of the messages reflects only the views of the authors of the original research and the author of the message. They are not the official views of CIFOR as an institution.
Because we realize you are very busy, we only send one message per month on average. Each message includes a 500 word highlight of an interesting recent research report with information on how to obtain a copy of the report and contact its author. We do not generally post announcements about publications, events, job opportunities, or other institutional issues. We try to maintain a balance with regard to geographical region and topics covered.
POLEX is primarily a channel for keeping you informed about policy research by CIFOR and others, and not a discussion list. However, interesting dialogues often develop directly between Polex recipients and the authors of the reports highlighted. Recently, we have introduced a feature that allows readers to post their comments on any Polex message, in order to broaden participation in such dialogues.
We are very interested in your feedback regarding POLEX and your suggestions for interesting reports we might promote through the list. Please send them to: polex-owner@lists.cgiar.org. Anyone interested in subscribing to the list should contact Ketty Kustiyawati at k.kustiyawati@cgiar.org.
POLEX is also available in French, Spanish, Indonesian and Japanese.
