Moving on:

  • Christian Cossalter’s assignment with CIFOR has completed in 2006 after 12½ years of service. He was a Principal Scientist in the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme.
  • Unna Chokkalingam has left in July 2006 after almost 6 years of service with CIFOR. She was a Scientist in the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme.
  • Philippe Hecketsweiler finished his assignment after almost 3 years of service with CIFOR. He was a Scientist based in Gabon, working with the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme.
  • Ravi Prabhu left CIFOR in July 2006 after almost 12 years of service. He was a Principal Scientist in the Forests and Governance Programme, and the Eastern & Southern Africa Regional Coordinator. He is now the Coordinator of the CGIAR’s Regional Plan for Collective Action in Eastern & Southern Africa, based in ILRI, Kenya.
  • Tini Gumartini left CIFOR in August 2006 after 5 years of service to pursue her Master Degree at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Tini was a Research Assistant in the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme.
  • William Sunderlin left after more than 12 years of service with CIFOR. He was a Principal Scientist in the Forests and Livelihoods Programme. William is now a Senior Researcher at the Rights and Resources Institute, USA.
  • Murniati Sono retired in September 2006 after almost 13 years of service. She was the Operations Officer in the Corporate Services Division. She is currently assisting CIFOR as a consultant in the Administration Unit.
  • Ulrik Ilstedt finished his assignment in CIFOR after 3 years of service. He was an Associate Expert/Post-Doc Fellow supported by the Swedish Government.
  • Cesar Sabogal left CIFOR in September 2006 after 12 years of service. He was a Principal Scientist in the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme.
  • Claudio Forner has resigned in December 2006 from his position as Project Manager of the Tropical Forests and Climate Change Adaptation (TroFCCA) project, Environmental Services & Sustainable Use of Forests Programme.
  • Alvaro Luna Terazas left CIFOR in December 2006 after more than 2 years of service as the Latin America Regional Coordinator, in Belem, Brazil.
  • Kustiani Suharsono resigned in October 2006 after 13 years with CIFOR. She was the Operations Assistant in the Corporate Services Division.
  • Edward Martin has left in December 2006 after 11 years of service. Edo was the Financial Analyst in the Corporate Services Division. He is now working with International Organization for Migration in Aceh, Indonesia.
  • Hasantoha Adnan Syahputra’s assignment with CIFOR has completed in December 2006 after 3 years of service. Anto was a Research Assistant in the Forests and Governance Programme.
  • Ninta Karina Bangun left in January 2007 after almost 13 years with CIFOR. Inna was the Executive Officer in the Director General’s Office.
  • Petrus Gunarso returns to the Ministry of Forestry, Indonesia in April 2007 after 5½ years secondment in CIFOR. His last assignment was as Project Coordinator for the Malinau Research Forest in Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Welcome

Fobissie Kalame is an Associate Expert supported by the Netherlands Government. He is based in Burkina Faso and works with the TroFCCA project, Environmental Services & Sustainable Use of Forests Programme. Fobissie has a MSc in Tropical Ecolofy and Forest Resources Management from the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Guillaume Lescuyer is seconded to CIFOR from the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD, France), where he was a Researcher in forest policy and economics. He is based in Cameroon and is attached to the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme. Guillaume has a PhD in in Environmental Economics from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) of Paris, France.

Madeleen Husselman joins CIFOR as an Associate Expert supported by the Netherlands Government. She works with the Forests and Livelihoods Programme and is based in Zambia. Madeleen has a MSc in Tropical Land-use from Wageningen University, the Netherlands.]

Bocar Kante is an Associate Expert supported by the Netherlands Government. He is based in Burkina Faso and works with the Forests and Governance Programme. He has a Master degree in Cultural Heritage Law from Paris Sud 11 University and is pursuing a PhD in Law at Paris1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University, France.

Maarit Kallio is an Associate Expert supported by the Finnish Government. She is attached to the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme. She has a MSc in Forest Ecology from the University of Helsinki, Finland. Prior to joining CIFOR, she was a Researcher at the University of Helsinki.

Maria Brockhaus joins the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme a Research Fellow/Post Doc (supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development / BMZ). Maria will be based in Burkina Faso. She has a PhD in Agricultural Policy from University of Giessen, Germany. Before joining CIFOR, Maria worked as a Researcher at the University of Giessen, Dept of Agricultural Policy and Market Analysis and a consultant for FAO in Italy.

Rita Hasibuan is CIFOR’s new Executive Officer in the Director General's Office. Her primary accountability will be to provide administrative support to the Director General. She has a Bachelor's degree in Information Management from Gunadarma University. She has worked with not-for-profit (HIVOS) and international organizations (UNAIDS) as well as with private companies (Austindo Group, McKinsey & Co, ABB Indonesia).

Laura German joins CIFOR as a Scientist in Forests and Governance Programme. Before joining CIFOR, Laura worked with the World Agroforetsry Research (ICRAF) and was the Acting Regional Coordinator of the African Highlands Initiative (AHI), an eco-regional program of the CGIAR and a network of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in East and Central Africa. She obtained her PhD in Ecological and Environmental Anthropology from University of Georgia, Athens, USA.

Dede Rohadi is seconded to CIFOR from Indonesia’s Forestry Research and Development Agency. He will be a Scientist in the Forests and Livelihoods Programme and lead the ACIAR Project: Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Indonesia. Dede was the Head of The Seed Technology Research Institute (STRI) at FORDA, Ministry of Forestry. Dede has a Master degree in Forestry Science from the University of Melbourne, The School of Agriculture and Forestry, Melbourne, Australia. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the Bogor Agricultural Institute, Indonesia.
