2nd worldwide symposium on gender and forestry August 1-10, 2004, Arusha, Tanzania.

Gender and Forestry Working Group of International Union of Forest Research Organizations, IUFRO, in collaboration with ENVIROCARE, University of Dar-es-Salaam, Sokoine University, Morogoro.

The 2nd Worldwide Symposium on Gender and Forestry will identify areas where women and men can access forest resources for improving the livelihoods of the rural poor and enhancing sustainable forestry management locally and globally.

Symposium themes will include: women and forestry, gender, poverty and sustainable development, forest resource utilization and income generating activities for local people, ideology, religion and environmental responsibility.

Parties interested in organizing roundtable workshops on specific areas within the theme and regions are welcome.
