Staff Update  

Hasantoha Adnan Syahputra (Anto) commenced a 12-month assignment in June 2003 as a research assistant working on the Forests and Governance Programme's "Building Collaboration and Shared Learning for Sustainable and Equitable Forest Management" project. Anto will spend much of his time in Muara Bungo, Jambi, Indonesia. Over the past year he has been doing consultancy work for CIFOR on the same project. Anto has a Degree in Anthropology from the University of Indonesia.

Nugroho Adi Utomo began a one-year appointment as Research Assistant in June 2003, working primarily on the Forests and Governance Programme's decentralization project. He will also work on the China National Forests Inventory for CIFOR's Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Programme. Nugroho has a Degree in Forest Management from the Bogor Agricultural Institute.

Enrique Ibarra joined CIFOR in July 2003 as Research Fellow under the Post Doctoral programme supported by GTZ and will be attached to CIFOR's Environmental Services and Sustainable Forest Management Programme. Enrique received his PhD in Forest Policy & Forest Economics from Freiburg University, Germany. Before starting his PhD, he was an Economist with the University of Costa Rica's Environmental Programme

Andy Darmawan joined CIFOR's Information Services Group for a 12-month appointment as a GIS Assistant, starting July 2003. Andy will work on maintaining CIFOR's spatial meta-database and provide assistance in a range of GIS tasks. Andy has a Degree in Forest Management from the Bogor Agricultural Institute.

 

Yuan Octavian began a one-year assignment in July 2003 as a Library Assistant in the Information Services Department. For the past two years he has undertaken consultancy work for CIFOR's Library. Yuan is currently finishing his degree in Library Science at the University of Indonesia.

 

Moving on:

Several colleagues left CIFOR in the second quarter of 2003. We thank them for their contribution to CIFOR and wish them every success.

  • Antonius (Tony) Djogo finished his assignment in May 2003. Tony joined CIFOR in December 2001 as a Scientist in the Forests and Governance programme. He is now working for the National Consortium For Nature and Forest Conservation in Indonesia, one of CIFOR's Indonesian-based collaborators.
