This side event will make the “business case” for REDD co-benefits. It will present how considerable co-benefits could be achieved, at low additional costs, through the use of suitable tools and methods. Furthermore, it will demonstrate that the success of REDD will depend to some degree on the extent of achieved co-benefits. Biodiversity and local livelihood benefits can increase the sustainability and permanence of REDD measures over the medium- and long-term, e.g. in terms of ecosystem stability, and through broad stakeholder support for REDD measures. The event is organized with financial support from the German Development Cooperation.
