Field Trip

Field Trip: Sunday, 7 December 2008
Organized by the Polish State Forests National Forest Holding.

The State Forests National Forest Holding is pleased to invite the Forest Day 2 participants to the field trip.

During this trip we would like to present you the results of implementation of Sustainable Forest Management in the Polish forests in the context of their contribution to climate change mitigation. The following silvicultural practices will be demonstrated, among others:

  • Afforestation, reforestation and regeneration
  • Changing species composition of the forest stands from coniferous dominated into broadleaves
  • Conservation of forest biological diversity
  • Small water retention
  • Forest fire prevention methods
  • Public education in forestry
  • Co-operation with major groups and Non-Government Organisations

We have prepared two parallel trips, one of which is especially dedicated to media and NGO representatives.

The timetable of the trips will be as follows:

The field trip is available for those who indicate their interest to join the field trip upon on-line registration at the Forest Day 2 website. Early registration is encouraged as it will be first come first served basis, due to the limitation of participants we can accommodate for the field trip.
