Reporting to: Manager, multimedia production unit
Overview
Reporting to the manager of the multimedia production unit, the photo editor leads the implementation of CIFOR’s digital photographic asset management strategy. ]
The photo editor works with the multimedia production team and CIFOR’s scientific staff to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of CIFOR’s overall investment in photography through effective planning, cataloguing and editorial guidance.
Key tasks
- Develop and implement effective processes for cataloguing, captioning, storing and updating digital photographic assets
- Plan, commission and oversee photo assignments
- Provide editorial guidance on the use of photography to CIFOR’s multimedia production unit
Requirements
- Degree level education
- Well-developed editorial judgement in the effective use of images to support and develop communications materials
- Fluency in English and Indonesian
- At least two years of experience in a disciplined publishing or web communication environment including experience of managing photographic databases
- Experience in using digital design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Bridge
- Experience in briefing photographers to fulfil explicit editorial requirements
- Thorough understanding of the technical aspects of using and sharing photography in a variety of multimedia environments
Ability to speak French and Spanish would be an advantage.
