Notify Human Resources Office of your flight number, departure date, arrival date and time if you make your own travel arrangement. With this information, a CIFOR driver will meet you at Jakarta International Airport, Soekarno-Hatta, immediately after you have cleared customs. The person meeting you at the airport will take you to a hotel, or CIFOR guest house, as your temporary accommodation.
Be sure that your passport will not expire for at least six months after you arrive in Indonesia; otherwise you may be refused admission. The following items may be useful and should be brought with you:
- photocopy of your passport
- extra passport photos (4 x 6 cm)
- international health card
- Blood Type - Rh Negative is not usually found in Indonesia
- Any special medications - hand carry along with a note of explanation
Upon arrival at the International Airport, you will pass through immigration, collect your baggage, deal with a customs officer and then you are free to join your friends, or a driver who will take you to Bogor via a toll road named Jagorawi (Jakarta-Bogor-Ciawi). Metered taxis (Bluebird & Silverbird Group) are hired at the stand outside the exit. They usually provide you with a special ticket detailing surcharge on the fare and the toll road fee. The cost of one trip to Bogor would be approximately Rp. 275.000 (USD 29)
Banks in town are open until 15:00 hours, Monday to Friday. Therefore, if you arrive in the afternoon, it may be a good idea to change some of your money into Rupiah at the airport or cashier at CIFOR.
